New Chunes!

Hey guys I thought I'd share some new tunes that I have come across lately, as well as some old faves of mine...

Twist-Master Debater *Heavy
Some heavy shit, beware the filth on this one. Torqux and Twist dueled again on a new project called X-rated EP. I couldn't post the other tune, because it is absolutely porn-ified.. haha yeah T&T have been pushing boundaries walking a fine line between filth and garbage, most of the time though they produce gold. Check out the EP here and buy the tunes if you like these dudes. They released another EP a few months ago called Hotline; it sports the Rottun Label! siiiiiiiiick!

Numbernin6-Hunt You Down
*Heavy
Off the brand new EP including the monster tune Garbage! You can buy them off beatport to support the artist! Huge tunes on this one :)
Numbernin6-Mosh * Right Click Save as
Free tune that my man Numbernin6 put out. My very first show was Numbernin6 @ radiopark music room, February 26/2010. Not only is this dude an incredible producer but he is 2 years away from being a Doctor... actually, guy is in med school... so crazy! Anyways check him out, here is the myspace

Die Antwoord-Enter the Ninja(Dumbsteppaz Remix)
If you haven't heard the original of this tune, get on it! Both are great. Here is the youtube... love these "joke" tunes! I'm a NINJA!

Datsik and Flux Pavilion-Game Over
Rottun and Circus collaboration.. yeah so sick. It's kind of an oldy, but loving it lately. Check it if you haven't heard it! Has some seeeerious bass on it!

This weekend! Massive party at Millenium Park Calgary... I know right, an electronic outdoor show being funded by the city? So nuts, maybe there is hope for this city's culture! I'm playing 1120am on The Supreme Hustle stage so come out, it's free, bring your dancing shows coz I'm super jacked for this one!

Well, that's all I got for today. Enjoy the dub, party responsibly and keep on rockin in the free world! 8D

CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASPA!

***Sorry for not posting this earlier, had to proofread and had no time:( enjoy anyways!***

My friends!

Last night, or a few hours ago I should say, Caspa and the Dub Police absolutely killed the distillery! Some of the sickest unheard dubs that Calgary rarely gets to experience. Surprise Guest: Toy Selectah slayed the decks and he was on sooooo early! I love when a show is hype allll night!

Big Ups to Matty G for a stellar showing of deep and gangsta dub. The Others, out of nowhere! Rockin the wobblestep, gettin peeps moving.... And then, after 11 months... the ghost!!!! Holy Fack! I've never seen Caspa rock so hard. It got mega hot in there, needed frequent chill sessions which was tough coz the tunes were so amazing! ....and last but not least emalkay comes on and turns it up one more notch! Heavy step! Twas a great night :)

Anyways here is few youtube links of my favorite tunes from last night:
Coki-Spongebob
Benga and Coki- Night
Caspa-Marmite(Doctor P Remix)
Crissy Criss and Youngman-Kick Snare
Subscape-Just Because * only short clip :(
TC- Where's My Money(Caspa remix)
The Others-Gravity
Subscape-Screw Up

And there were many more that blew my mind, but they isn't to my knowledge! Hope everyone isn't too hungover, Big Ups to all the troopers who came out to rock hard Mid-Week! Rockin like we're 17 again! Fuck yeah :) Instead of feeling like crap tomorrow.... we must all remember the fun that was Caspa and The Dub Police! Tell everyone how awesome it was instead of how terrible you feel(if in fact you feel terrible) and good feelings will come your way! Law of attraction: 8D Go forth children of dubstep and spread positive basslines!

Kids and their drugs....

Hey guys,

I would like to take a minute to discuss the mayhem that was subculture last night. One of the most hyped shows ever to come to Calgary, Subculture sold 2500 tickets. 4 stages and 2 floors of artistic glory and mega energy. That was until the party got canceled due to "public safety" concerns. From what I've heard, there was anywhere from 5-9 Overdoses or medical emergencies due to drugs and alcohol. Some say bad mdma, some say ghb... I say holy fuck. Calgarians who are so starved for rave culture finally get a massive rave to come to and they fuck it up by taking too many drugs, partying beyond their limits, and ruining it for the 2400 other people who are having a great time. This is why the cops have been shutting down raves in Calgary for years and its a shame. I don't even know what a possible solution might be, educating people on drugs? Well if they aren't the most gullable people on the planet they should be researching anything they put in their body, but I guess the easiest solution would be to educate them. Or try to at least.

So for my part, hopefully people learn something from this post:
GHB
I hate GHB, I have never done it.. so you would have a point to tell me that I don't know anything about it. But what I do know is this; it's a form of date rape drug. The dosage for recreational use is very small and can be abused very easily. So with a drug that is so volatile you wold think that people would be ultra careful. Anyways, there is the link for GHB info, read up and party RESPONSIBLY! FUCK PEOPLE! KNOW YOUR LIMITS!!!!!

Well, after all this, I bring back the positive energy of Dubstep :)
Enjoy the tunes!

The Beginning

Le Poisson Fou- The Crazy Fish

"Why the f*ck is your name le poison fool?" I have gotten this question a few times, so just for everyones knowledge, a little FYI. I used to live with roommates who had a strange love for the french language. They had picked up on the fact that I had the worst short term memory in the world, and started calling me poisson(coz fish have bad memories). "POISSON, you left shit on the stove again!" And so then poisson became my name. Fou came from when I was searching for a logo and came across crazyfish.jpeg which you can peep on my weak unused myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/poissonfous

Bar 9- The Beginning Some music while you read :)

Dubstep the Beginning:

In December of 08', I like every other zombie was hooked on Vibe 98.5 and CJAY 92.1 listening to the same shitty music over and over. I often went to punk shows to try to escape the monotony of it all. Trying to find music that made me happy, searching for something that would have meaning.

Nero-Act Like you Know One of my first dubstep faves.

Then one fateful evening my friend Dan decided to bring me to The Soda in Calgary, AB. Trill Bass and Dj Eleven were playing. I walked in maybe hearing dubstep once or twice but dismissing it as gay techno music. So I walk in this dark room with glow shit on the walls, black lights, couches, and a rather small grungy dance floor. To my left is the bar, a place I usually default to in situations such as these where I feel uncomfortable. The music was faster than anything I've ever heard and glitchy and seemed to not have a beat. I was very disoriented. A mixture of people from hippies to punks to metal heads to "normal" people or what I thought was normal, all moving in the strangest way humans had ever moved in my eyes. Almost convulsing on the dance floor moving back and forth like headbanging, but not quite, this was new. This was so new and seemed like the craziest shit I had ever witnessed.

Trill Bass- Lotus

I'm not gonna lie and say I was hooked, there was some serious drama going on that night, so I just got drunk and didn't really dance. Kinda enjoyed some of the music, but it was still annoying techno in my eyes. So Dan kept playing it around the house once and a while (I moved in with him February 2009) and I went to soda a couple more times and seemed to enjoy it the more I went. Actually went and danced and felt the music. Then February 28th, What About Bob's, CASPA. The one dubstep song that I actually knew, cockney thug. I was having some troubles with work and they wouldn't let me have that night off. So there it was, a choice. Dubstep or Work. Needless to say I never worked for them again(it's ok though it was only a doorman job).

Rusko-Cockney Thug(Caspa Remix)
* Really Good *

So I take the train with twenty other people from Calgary and Red Deer, who I had never really known until that night. Drunk mob of 20 peeps terrorizing quiet people on the C-train with our antics. Walking into a bar in the NE, a quadrant of the city I had been told to stay away from, and I walk into a massive stage with mega speakers like nothing I've ever seen in such a small room(700 person capacity) with sick ass graffiti art and lighting(big ups Voltron). The hype begins. I'm dancing in a crowded room, staring up at dj Eleven as she throws out a vinyl record that hits me in the forehead. My first ever BIG dubstep show and I have a vinyl to bring home. Fuck YES! It was an EP from Nero, someone who I had no idea of at this time. Tracks: End of the World/Go Back

Nero- End of the World

So then I'm chillin over in the booths guarding my record, waiting for the dopest ghost in town to get on the decks. While I'm sitting there some young punk from kelowna was on the decks, absolutely slaying it. Turns out it was Excision. A dj who I would learn has some serious production/live performance skills. He finishes, then huge anticipation, 700 people about to lose their mind. And up walks this preppy ass brit, nice sweater and hat on... not what I expected, but nonetheless 20 minutes later I realized something about this scene: It doesn't matter what you wear, it doesn't matter what you look like, or how you dance, no one gives a fuck about sexual preference, or if someone looked at them the wrong way. I rarely saw a guy who wasn't there for the music and walked around hitting on girls ever so creepily. This scene is about people coming together to love the music, and spread good vibes to everyone around. As well as get buck nasty and show off their individual energy. I was forever changed by this experience. I bumped into a guy expecting him to be pissed off and give me trouble, I said sorry man, he responded no worries bro its CASPA!!!!!! He was actually happy that I bumped into him so that he sould express how excited he was. This is the greatest scene on earth, ego's checked at the door, no matter who you are, we're here to party and have fun. I will talk alot about this energy. Something I never knew about, positive energy and it's power. When you stand there surrounded by 700 people all moving in he same way: smiling laughing dancing hugging, and accepting of anyone who brings their own positive energy to the table(even accepting of negative people sometimes in order to spread the good vibes into them) it's really a great feeling. This is why I have never really gone to any bars or night clubs or what I thought was the party scene. I had a new family, a new home. That home is dubstep. Anyways I'm rambling on, so if you've this far sweet ems here is some free dubs for you :)

Rusko's Essential Mix 2008 I listened to this mix at least 100 times in the start of 2009 and still love every second of it.

Que Pasa Dubsteppahs!

The time has come.... to follow my blog! I'm gonna be posting new and old tunes of the dubstep (and occasionally drum n bass) variety as well as mixes, youtube videos, and promo material for massive shows going down in Calgary.

This is an exciting time to be a dubstep fan in cowtown. This weekend PK sound is throwing yet another massive show at Symons Valley Ranch. The lineup of artists for this show, is pretty ridiculous. Evol Intent, Excision, Datsik, Freqnasty, Downlink, Computer Club.... and so many more. Three stages, 200,000 watts of PK bass in yo face. Yep its gonna be epic. 2000 people are gonna lose there mind on Saturday :)

Then, if that wasn't enough; Wednesday September 22nd ***Supreme Hustle presents Caspa and The Dub Police World Tour @ Distillery. The Dub Police= The Others, Matty G, Emalkay, Rod Azlan and Crazy D. The most stacked lineup this city has ever seen in one room! Here is the facebook link for that rager, see you in front of the bass bins!
Some Tunes:
Caspa's new mix My Style
The Others-Gravity
Matty G and Glitch Mob- West Coast Rocks
